let them seek

but aren’t the beautiful things the most powerful?
sublime in their carriage, they strike our senses with awe

where do we go from here
we, us – all of us who have seen beauty and yet can’t recognise it?

around us, it lurks flagrantly
dancing in the space before our eyes
“seek us out”, the beautiful things call out
seductively, they keep calling out

and so we spend our days awake – our eyes gravely discoloured
our minds addled with undying purpose

we are
weary of rest, of sleep, of distraction from this quest
the mighty challenge of finding the beauty that lives, around, before, within our own minds, bodies and souls
