on the pertinence of Dying

dying is divine
saviour for the world
look no further for messiahs
for the process of your death is come

dying: the slow snuffing out of life
the filmstrip before your eyes
the regret, the pain
that dying: master of inglorious hindsight

dying: the glitter of the world
the indomitable enigma that invokes awe
you fear its thought, its reality
something so happy, sublime misery

dying: the blitz your soul always craved
the thing your spirit surely prefers
a little longer; your body protests
reminding you to take what you can from this life

dying: the rage
the utmost prayer for your passion
that thing that rules over life and death
a crossroad, your soul’s prayer. A lord
